| Elizabeth
Essner has experience and success advocating for students with a
variety of disabilities. Her clients have ranged in age from 3 years
old to eighteen years old. Areas of expertise include:
Aspergers
Syndrome,
- Nonverbal Learning Disabilities (NLD),
- Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD/ADHD),
- Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD),
- Dysgraphia,
- Emotional disturbance, including bi-polar disorder and depression,
- Specific learning disabilities (SLD), and
- Tourettes Syndrome.
She has also dealt extensively with discipline issues.
Elizabeth has helped ensure clients receive a variety of appropriate
related services including speech and language pathology, occupational
therapy, social skills training, and counseling. She has helped
families obtain independent educational evaluations at no expense
to them.
Elizabeth has helped secure the rights of many students with special
education needs through the IEP process under the Individuals with
Disabilities Education Act, and others under Section 504 of the
Rehabilitation Act.
